1. Scope and layered notices
This policy applies to UnitedStatesCredit.com and the USC pages, tools and services that link to it. The information we process depends on how you use USC. Reading an article is different from submitting a product request or using a secure product-matching experience where one is offered.
Product-specific terms and authorizations supplement this policy. They do not replace it. When a narrower product notice conflicts with this policy about a particular transaction, the product notice controls for that transaction.
2. Information we collect
When you read content
We may collect browser, device, IP address, referral, page-view, cookie, advertising and interaction information.
When you use search, calculators or tools
We process the query and values needed to return a result. Unless a tool clearly says otherwise, you do not need an account. We configure general site logging to avoid storing sensitive financial inputs and use aggregated or de-identified information where practical.
When you request a financial product
Depending on the product, we may collect contact, identity, demographic, employment, income, banking, credit-related and other eligibility information. A product flow may request sensitive information such as a Social Security number only when it is required for the requested service and after displaying the applicable notice or authorization.
3. Sources of information
We collect information directly from you, automatically from your browser or device, from service providers that help operate USC, from Marketplace Partners involved in a product request, and from public or licensed data sources used to maintain rates and educational content.
4. How we use information
- Provide content, search results, calculators and requested product-matching services.
- Operate, secure, troubleshoot and improve the site.
- Measure content and advertising performance.
- Detect fraud, abuse and technical problems.
- Comply with law, enforce terms and preserve evidence of consumer consent.
- Send communications requested or separately authorized by you.
5. How we disclose information
Service providers
We may disclose information to vendors that provide hosting, security, analytics, communications, customer support and other operational services.
Marketplace Partners
When you ask USC to find or compare a financial product, we may disclose the information needed to lenders, issuers, networks, bureaus, aggregators or other Marketplace Partners involved in providing the requested service. The applicable product page and consent identify the relevant partner list or category.
Advertising and analytics providers
Advertising and analytics providers may collect device, cookie, IP-address and page-interaction information through their technologies. We do not intentionally provide Social Security numbers, bank-account data or raw product-application fields to advertising providers.
Legal and business transfers
We may disclose information when required by law, to protect rights or security, or in connection with a merger, sale, financing or transfer of all or part of the business.
6. Sensitive information
Sensitive information may include Social Security numbers, bank or account information, precise financial details, credit-report information and authentication data. We collect sensitive information only within the secure product flow that requires it, restrict access, and design controls to prevent it from entering URLs, advertising tags, analytics events, session-replay recordings and ordinary support screenshots.
7. Cookies, analytics and advertising
USC and third parties may use cookies, web beacons, IP addresses and other identifiers to operate the site, measure traffic, prevent fraud, limit repeated ads and, where permitted, personalize advertising. Third-party vendors, including Google, may place or read cookies in your browser or use web beacons and IP addresses as a result of ad serving.
Google uses advertising cookies to serve ads based on visits to USC and other sites. You can manage Google ad personalization through Google Ads Settings. Additional details appear in our Cookies & Advertising notice.
8. Your privacy choices
Depending on where you live and the law that applies, you may have rights to request access, deletion or correction; opt out of certain sales, sharing or targeted advertising; limit certain uses of sensitive personal information; or appeal a decision about a request. USC also provides marketing unsubscribe options and recognizes supported browser-based opt-out signals where required.
Use the Privacy Choices page for instructions. We may need to verify your identity before completing certain requests.
9. Retention
We retain information for the period reasonably necessary for the purpose collected, to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud and maintain consent or transaction evidence. Retention varies by information type and product flow. Product-specific notices may provide additional details.
10. Security
We use administrative, technical and physical safeguards designed for the nature of the information processed. No system can guarantee absolute security. Our Security page explains the separation between public content, general tools and sensitive product flows.
11. Age and U.S. use
USC is intended for adults in the United States. Product-request services are not intended for people under 18, and we do not knowingly collect product-request information from children.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in law, technology, partners or USC services. The active document displays its effective date and version. Material changes are reviewed before activation and archived for audit purposes.
